Kahiko Ha Lapa I Hula Alapa`i `O Ke Anuenue
The Halau branch Kahiko Ha Lapa I Hula Alapa`I `O Ke Anuenue was founded in the year 2000 by Lynn Kananiokeanuenue Roth. Lynn began learning hula with Roselle Bailey in 1976 on Kauai. Since 1981 Lynn has lived with her husband and family, splitting time between California and Kauai. Based now in Marin County, frequent workshops bring her back to the Islands for continuing education, keeping strong her connection to Kauai and all the Halau members.
Her work with Kumu Roselle has given her the privilege of performing throughout the years not only in Hawaii and California, but more recently in Washington D.C., Germany, and India.
In 1999 Lynn brought hula, music and chant to the World Music Class at Marin Academy High School in San Rafael, California, which led to the formation of her Halau branch. She has trained brides in hula, entertained at luaus, and volunteered with her students to perform for care homes. She is currently teaching Keiki classes for children, and Beginning and Intermediate classes for adults.
